This will be the final chance you have to join the Steering Committee and find out first hand what’s happening at Lutherhill so you’ll be prepared to answer questions and start the fund raising right after our September 13th Convention Kick Off.
Lunch will be provided by Chef Don and the food will be outstanding.
I’ll need to know number of people attending by June 30th so I can inform Lutherhill before I head off to Triennial Gathering. The meeting will be the Saturday after we get back from Salt Lake City, Utah.
Update on the April 14, 2008 meeting: The Steering Committee decided to focus on the funding and furnishings for “THE NURSES STATION” in the new “Heath Center” as a way to promote our churchwide health initiative of “Raising Up Healthy Women and Girls”.
We’re shooting for the $50,000 goal with naming rights to the Nurses Station. Commitment is over 3-4 years.
Don’t panic about the amount – this is not just going to be contributions from the board and active units. I anticipate all women in our synod becoming involved because this project is not just for women. This will affect men, children, grandchildren and future generations of camping ministry. It’s exciting and a stretch to our spiritual growth as well as growing our numbers of women involved in our synod.
Evan Moilan, from Lutherhill, will be presenting a 7 minute DVD intro film at our convention. He’ll have a display and will conduct workshops to answer questions.
At our SWO Board Meeting on May 3, 2008, the Board decided to donate the proceeds from our “Silent Auction” to Lutherhill. I’d love to see us also present Lutherhill with money from units and clusters already becoming active in fund raising.
We’ll finalize the
details for the kick off at the July 19th meeting. Come Join Us!
