The Bayou Cluster meeting was held April 5, 2008 at Peace
Lutheran in Slidell, Louisiana. Fourteen of our sisters in the
Lord traveled from Texas to visit and tour the New Orleans area
as part of their pilgrimage. With these friends, we also had
ladies from four churches in our area in attendance, totaling
33. It was a grand day. Pastor Barb Simmers, from Peace,
presented Plants of the Bible and Spirituality. There were some
hands on exercises and beautiful floral displays were created.
Peace Lutheran has lovely, peaceful gardened areas surrounding
their church and we went on an identifying search for some
listed flowers and plants. Our
next meeting will be next spring, the place to be announced at a
later time

SOUTHEAST HOUSTON
-
Dorothy Johnston,
dorjohn55@verizon.net
Southeast Houston Cluster meet on February 16, 2008 at Peace
Evangelical Lutheran Church in Pasadena with President, Becky
White, welcoming all that were present. Announcements were made
regarding the upcoming Triennial Gathering, the one day
convention on September 18th, and the Parish
Pilgrimage tour to LA. DeAnna Gerber from New Life in Pearland
volunteered to be secretary, replacing Debbie Adams.
Speaker was Mary Cole Cook, member of Peace Lutheran. She based
her talk on Mark 6:31 “Come with me by yourselves to a quiet
place and get some rest.” She was 42 years old and had given up
on life when God led her to this scripture, and many others,
that saved her. Little did she know that the “quiet place” He
had in mind for her was a Virginia Prison. Mary Cole Cook now is
46 and so full of joy that she loves to share her story of how
she had given up on herself but God never gave up on her. Her
message was one of hope and that nothing is impossible with God.
Her talk was very inspiring to all of us.
Watch the next
scroll for the next meeting in late September or early October.
